Deep Brain Reorienting Therapy

Heal Trauma at the Source with Kaye Frost-Hunt, DBR Provider

Trauma isn’t just in your thoughts—it’s in your nervous system. Deep Brain Reorienting® (DBR®) is a science-backed trauma therapy that targets the body’s earliest response to distress—before emotions like fear or panic even surface. It helps release stored shock and rewire the brain’s reaction to trauma at its core.

Whether you’re struggling with disrupted early attachment, PTSD, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm, DBR offers a way to move beyond coping—and into real healing.

What Is Deep Brain Reorienting?

Developed by Dr. Frank M Corrigan, Deep Brain Reorienting is a bottom-up therapeutic approach that targets trauma held deep in the brainstem. Unlike traditional talk therapy, DBR® works with the physiological sequence of trauma, starting with the orienting tension—the subtle physical response that happens just before emotional overwhelm.

By processing these pre-emotional responses, DBR helps:

  • Release unresolved shock stored in the nervous system
  • Restore a felt sense of safety and emotional balance
  • Transform how the brain and body react to triggers

Who Is DBR For?

DBR is especially effective for individuals who have:

  • Complex trauma or PTSD
  • Chronic anxiety or emotional dysregulation
  • Depression tied to unresolved emotional wounds
  • Early attachment trauma
  • Tried therapy before but still feel stuck

Why DBR® Is Different

Most therapies address symptoms. DBR goes deeper—to the body’s automatic survival responses that often block healing. Here’s what makes it unique:

Works directly with the brainstem’s trauma response
Begins with body tension, not emotional flooding
Respects the pace of your nervous system
Supports lasting healing without retraumatization

What to Expect in a DBR Session

Sessions are grounded, gentle, and deeply focused. As a DBR provider, I guide you through a structured process that helps your brain and body safely process what’s been held for too long.

A typical session includes:

  • Body Awareness: Tracking subtle tension in the face, neck, or body
  • Grounding Techniques: To keep you present and avoid overwhelm
  • Neurophysiological Processing: Following the original trauma sequence
  • Integration: Allowing the body to release and reorient
  • Sessions are typically 60–90 minutes to allow time for deep processing.
